I had the pleasure of doing my first solo wedding a couple of weeks back. Of course I missed my partner in crime (and crutch), Mr. Tom Harmon of Tom Harmon Photography, but nevertheless I held my own. It is challenging shooting a wedding in 98 degree heat by yourself though. I will not pretend otherwise.
I travelled up to Piseco, NY the night before and met the bride and groom and their wonderful family. I had a sneak peak at what they called a "camp". It was in all reality a huge house on the lake. I would refer to it as my lake house (sounds a little more uppity - which they were not!). The entire group was very welcoming and I immediately felt at home (ish).
The wedding was officiated by my dear friend Aaron Fried (thanks for referring me!). He did a great job inserting movie quotes that reflected his personality. If you were quick, you may have heard a line from "The Big Labowski" and a "Napoleon Dynamite" reference. I was too busy sweating profusely to notice.
There were a few other familiar faces from weddings and BBQ's past. All in all it was a great time and despite the high noon sun, the humidity fogging my lenses and the flies buzzing around my neck, I got some great shots. If I had to do it over, I would have paid someone to drive me and keep my lenses at hand!
Shout out to the Village Motel for their exceptional hospitality!
