Laura and Dan // A Dark Horse and Franklin Square Engagement Session

On Sunday I had the pleasure of meeting up with Laura and Dan for a brief engagement shoot before dan had to go to work. We met at the local watering hole where we (that's right, the clients and I) had our first date. The Dark Horse Tavern in Dewitt, NY made for a great engagement shoot back drop. I'm calling it an engagement session despite the fact that Dan and Laura already legally share the same last name. After five or six beers at The Dark Horse, we travelled down to Franklin Square in Syracuse, NY to grab a few more shots (pictures, duh!). We took a brisk walk on the hottest day of the weekend and ended up having a great time and getting some great pictures. Dan put Laura in a headlock, we laughed and joked (and then had a serious conversation about the struggle with poverty in America) about bums and drowning people and then I told Dan to keep his legs closed while posing for pictures in shorts. Just a little tip I picked up along the way.

We had a great time and we can attribute it all to the great Jack Beattie, who shamelessly promoted his good friend and talented Syracuse Wedding Photographer, Kegan Shattuck. Jack and Dan are BFF work buds (but I can't tell you where they work - client confidentiality).

Enjoy the pictures!

P.S. - We didn't really have five or six beers at the bar.

Amanda and Colleen // A Boldt Castle Engagement

A few months ago I received and email from an old friend asking me about my Wedding Photography business. I believe the email started with "As fate would have it...". Sure enough, Amanda hired me to shoot her wedding. We decided that Boldt Castle in Alexandria Bay would be a great backdrop for an engagement session. After spending 12 hours trying to repair my wheel bearing on the truck, I headed north to the heart shaped island. We took a short trip (thanks to Uncle Sam Boat tours) across the river and were greeted with a few rules we weren't expecting. As it turns out, you can shoot and engagement session at Boldt Castle, but without reservations you can't shoot inside. We made the best of it and managed to sneak in the basement for a few awesome shots. We had a great time and did a heck of a lot of laughing (and sweating).

Without further adoo, here are the greatest pictures you've looked at all day!

Maria and Kristjan // A Doylestown PA and Syracuse NY Engagement

I had the extreme pleasure of shooting my dear friend Kristjan and Maria's engagement photos yesterday. That's right folks, this is the fastest turn around time for an engagement shoot yet.

I met Kristjan quite a few years back when he and his family moved to Syracuse from somewhere up in the Northern United States (Canada - That's why he spells his name funny.). His brother Stefan and I were best of friends through High School. Time and distance came between us and next thing you know, I am running into Kristjan in Atlanta Georgia. Let me tell you, this guy is a riot. He would like  you to believe that he is a laid back, quiet type, but I know quite the contrary. He's more like a big, funny, dramatic teddy bear that tells a killer story.

Now Maria, on the other hand, is a whole different story. I know Maria from my time spent over at NCAG. Last I checked she was 14 and running around - with my now step sister  Alex - giggling and talking about boys. Well, as it turns out, she's all grown up and getting married. Man, time flies. It was really a privilege to shoot these two yesterday and I look forward to their wedding in December. I'm sure I will see a lot of old faces that I haven't seen in ages (and some that I see frequently). Congratulations guys!
